Born 5th of January 1922, Wortley, Yorkshire. 6 months after his 17th Birthday he joined the Royal Navy - proudly serving on the HMS Cossack. Involved in many famous battles, including the Bismark. He married his wife Annie at this time, going off to war for his 1st years of marriage. After the war, he worked "On the buses". He then went working with the GPO - later British Telecom. This is when he moved around the country with his job, taking his children with him. His last posting being Swansea. Which is where he came to live. Finally buying a house in Penally. Ken's wife died 5 years ago - 2007. He was naturally very upset after 68 years of marriage and being 85 years old struggled with the loss from his life. Not to say this loss was replaced, but at this time Ken wanted some company, and this is when Harry came into his life. A kitten of a ferel cat on a nearby farm. My personal memories of this partnership are one of a very very spoiled cat and a content Ken. Ken's daughter Janet lives very close and Harry is a regular visitor to his "cousins" at Janet's house. Ken made many trips to Naval reunions, including the sites of famous battles in Norway. Often travelling for many hours to attend these. Another trek Ken made was September last year (2011). This was when a very proud Granddad gave his Granddaughter's hand in marriage. Travelling to Gretna Green to do so. Unfortunately Ken suffered a stroke before Christmas. Spending a short time in hospital before going to be with Janet. He died peacefully at 7pm on the 14th February 2012, with Janet lay beside him.
